What’s makes object or form brutalist? And whats the meaning of Brutalism?

The terms Brutalist and Brutalism were coined by architects Alison and Peter Smithson in 1953. The words related to a phrase call ”Beton Brut” which translates to raw concrete. Le corbusier , a swiss architect known for his role in modern architecture, use Beton Brut to describe his work.

How does a building of brutalism influence looks like?

To me it shares repetitive angular lines , and are typically made with concrete, sometimes it has a mixture of one other material such as wood. the characteristic contain rough, blocky shapes and exposed material and form.

There are furniture that was inspired by buildings, think Broyhill’s Brassila line, The art was born from the stunning lines and striking presence of the new modern building of this time. With an influence of Brutalist Art. What is it? its a highly recognizable art much like the Butalist building but with a geometric hard lines, and a feeling of exposed ”guts” and materials.
